Prevalence of First Diagnosed Atrial Fibrillation in Patients Admitted with Acute Coronary Syndrome and with Impaired Renal Function with and without Diabetes Mellitus

Objective: To determine the prevalence of first diagnosed atrial fibrillation in patients admitted with acute coronary syndrome and impaired renal function without diabetes mellitus.
 Methodology: A total 434 were selected from two different hospitals, 361 NICVD, Tando Muhammad Khan 73 Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad. Both males females, aged between 18 years to 70 years, ever presented & (ACS) impairment included whereas, (AF) other than diagnosed, previous history myocardial infarction/coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), known case chronic kidney disease/on dialysis, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), patient valvular heart disease, pregnant women excluded this study. Baseline clinical data was collected association AF through chi-square test a p value <0.05 considered as statistically significant.
 Results: The mean age ± SD 49.32±12.47 years. Among them majority 66.35% rural residents 51.15% respectively. most common risk factor observed our study presence hypertension (N = 231, 53.22%) among all ACS patients, type unstable angina 195, 44.93%). overall 12.44% 54) mellitus 39.63% 172). Mean random blood sugar levels diabetic 203.32±105.60 mg/dL, hypertensive DM (48.14%), STEMI (12.96%) significantly associated increased fibrillation, <0.05.
 Conclusion: Prevalence is comparatively higher because underlying impairment. Modifiable like uncontrolled has significance AF.
